One-On-one

Emotion-Focused Therapy

For adults struggling with self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, loneliness, motherhood, grief, and/or intimacy.

An empty blue velvet chair is positioned below a circular mirror. Script text reads, “Be the person you know you can be.”

You’re tired of feeling disconnected in your relationships and you yearn for something deeper and more satisfying.

You’re not sure when it happened, but things are off. You snap at your loved ones more than you’d like to admit, you feel constant, intense pressure to excel at work, and you’re ashamed of how you’ve been handling things lately. This isn’t the life you envisioned for yourself.

Emotion-focused Therapy

How it works

01

We’ll start where you are. We’ll talk about what’s been happening in your life lately and how that’s been affecting you and your important relationships. I’ll then explore your family of origin and talk through childhood, relationships, career and significant events that have occured. This will really allow me to understand YOU, within the context of your world.

02

Then, we’ll start to explore the emotions and experiences that are problematic for you and learn how they came to be. Connecting them back to the attachment significance, needs and injury.

03

Through EFT, I’ll help you start accessing the primary emotions that are really underneath the secondary emotions we often show first. Your emotions will stop acting as powerful, uncontrollable wounds that limit you from feeling resilient, confident, comforted and genuinely connected to others. Instead, you’ll start to identify these difficult emotions as information to help you become more comfortable in your vulnerability and be more present with feelings and needs.

How much are sessions? How long are sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are $170 / 50 minutes. Good Faith Estimates provided with intake documents.

How often do you meet with clients?

My job is to work myself out of a job! I love, love, LOVE the work I am privileged to do. And, I also want clients to experience corrective change, which would limit the frequency of therapy. I meet with clients weekly at the beginning. Together, we discuss treatment along the way and we eventually will transition to biweekly, then to once a month! Previous clients are always welcome for “tune ups” as needed! It’s important that we keep those cobwebs out!

What if we’re not the right fit?

This happens and that’s okay! Therapy is for YOU! We know from research that the therapeutic alliance between clinician/client is the biggest indicator of change. If I am not the best fit for you, I will help you connect with a clinician to transition over to.
